Abstract
Circulatory Shock can be defined as an inadequate delivery of oxygen to meet oxygen consumption requirements, causing to tissue hypoxia and cellular metabolic dysregulation, leading cellular death, and life threating disruption of organ functions. It is usually classified in 4 broad categories: cardiogenic, distributive, obstructive or hypovolemic shock. Point of care ultrasound is an important skill for emergency physicians as it can solve many questions on the resuscitation bay regarding volume status, cardiac function and it can also discard obstructive shock relatively easy. There are multiple protocols describe in medical literature to assess the common causes of circulatory shock. Early identification of the type of shock can guide therapeutic interventions to establishing definitive treatments and stabilization of critical patients.
