Title: Achenbach Syndrome: The Unsolved Mysterious Pathology

Abstract

Achenbach syndrome or paroxysmal hand hematoma is a rare and scantily found medical condition. It is a condition with benign, spontaneous, self-limiting focal hemorrhage under the skin, mostly located in the extremities of upper limb or lower limb, mostly displaying bluish discoloration of skin. This pathology is one of the most neglected and not so talked about topic in concurrent medicine. A case report from Russian Federation which was compatibly diagnosed to be Achenbach syndrome by analyzing the history and other medical reports has put light into the plausible pathology involved in it. The typical nature of the case being presented is that the patient had brown discoloration of skin rather than blue and experienced no pain as reported by guardians of the patient and as was found during medical assessment by the clinician. It might be a possibility that Achenbach syndrome is not so uncommon but usually neglected due to its non-threatening course of pathological manifestation. Development of understanding and knowledge of this pathology hence is of utmost importance and research regarding to its association with other life-threatening similar diseases like ischemia and hemorrhage has to be carried out.
