Title: A Panacea for all Ailments - Echinacea

Abstract

E. purpurea has magical healing properties that can bring a person back from the dead, if the time of his death has not yet come! Today, we are faced with distressing news of the growing tolerance and resistance of pathogens to artificially made chemicals. In such circumstances, it's a high time to remember the great healers created in nature – plants!, and Echinacea is one of such ancient healers of intractable diseases. We present the chemical composition of Echinacea immune boosters and simple ways to extract them from the plant even at home in order to increase immune reactivity and body resistance. Antioxidants of Echinacea contribute to the rejuvenation of the body and prevent the development of oxidative stress; plant immunomodulators along with anti-inflammatory components are ideally combined to achieve a balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, antibacterial and antiviral compounds are powerful stimulators of immune resistance, anti-osteoporotic components are indispensable in menopause and fracture healing. The immunomodulatory chemical components of Echinacea purpurea roots are glycoproteins, glycoprotein alkylamines, alkylamines, and polysaccharides. It is high time for physicians to become interested in this ornamental plant for the treatment of bacterial, fungal, viral infections, liver diseases, intestinal dysfunction, osteoporosis, which was once used by the Native Americans, the Indians, for almost all occasions. Some of these recipes are presented in this article.
